The Cajun trick-taking card game

Bourré on the porch, after the sun goes down.

Booray Bayou deals the trick-taking game of Cajun country at a lantern-lit table over the bayou. Ten painted critters take the other seats, and each plays its own way: Boudreaux the crawfish stays in on almost anything, and Pearl the possum sits out unless her hand is sure.

Up to four critters, Short and Classic games and today's deal are free. No ads, no account, and it plays offline.

How a hand goes

  1. Five cards and a trump

Everyone gets five cards. The next card is turned face up, and its suit is trump for the hand.

  2. Stay in or sit out

Look at your hand and decide. Sitting out scores nothing for the hand and costs nothing either.

  3. Swap

If you stayed in, trade any of your cards for new ones from the stock.

  4. Take your tricks

Follow suit, beat the card on the table if you can, trump when you can't. Stay in and take none, and that's a booray.

The most tricks earns the hand bonus. Games are a points race to 15, 25 or 35, and the first to reach the target with the lead wins.
